Healthcare Traveler Features Another Trustaff Travel Nurse
In the June 2008 issue of Healthcare Traveler, Trustaff travel nurse Kathleen Murphy, RN, was featured in the monthly Field Notes column entitled “One of the ‘Regulars’”. The article details Kathleen’s experiences as a travel nurse, why she chose the lifestyle of a travel RN, and has stuck with it.
While Kathleen had the opportunity to choose different facilities for each assignment, she decided to extend multiple times with certain hospitals and later return to those same facilities. The network of people and professionals Kathleen discovered while traveling has benefited her career and the new technology she has had access to has furthered her knowledge of nursing.
Although she worked with different staff at each facility, Kathleen found herself growing very close with the other travel nurses and locum tenens. Kathleen enjoyed the company of her fellow travelers so much she and many of the travel nurses renewed their contracts multiple times with the same facility to continue working together.
When Kathleen did travel to new facilities, she and her husband Eddie packed their RV and drove to the new location much like they would a vacation getaway. With her network of friends and collogues among the facilities she has worked, Kathleen knows she can pick and chose from facilities she has previously traveled to before or chose a new facility for an adventure.
With all of her positive experiences, Kathleen continues to live the lifestyle of a travel nurse and highly recommends to same to other nurses. While the flexible schedule, higher earning potential, and professional networking are all nice career perks, it is the friends, amazing people, and new experiences that keep Kathleen Murphy traveling.
